Seasonal Check-Up

Summer is quickly approaching and for the residents of St. John’s and surrounding areas, the weather has been cooperating with the calendar! We have had warm, beautiful days lately, which have forced many of us out of winter-induced hibernation and into the great outdoors. We have started walking, running, hiking, biking, boating and finishing up projects around the home and garden that we couldn’t tackle while the snow was around.

This increase in activity can bring with it a wide variety of positive side effects to your health but it can also bring with it added strain and pressure on your back and body.  If you go from sedentary to vigorously active without any kind of sustained training, your potential for injury is high. New activity is a shock to your system but that doesn’t mean you should stay cooped up inside this summer! Quite the contrary! With some wise preparation and careful attention, you can maximize the sun this summer and stay injury free!

Chiropractic care is going to help you do just that.

Regular and proper alignment of your skeletal system is going relieve pressure from your joints and spinal column, which will reduce/eliminate joint pain and inflammation. Chiropractic adjustments also directly contribute to the health of your nervous system.

Sean Thorton, DC wrote in his blog back in 2010, “Chiropractic is a science and art based on the premise that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system free from interference from the spine or adjacent structures. When there is interference in the nervous system caused by a misalignment or dysfunction of the spine, tissues, muscles and organs may not function properly. Detection of these problem areas (called “subluxations”) and their correction by spinal manipulation will relieve nerve interference and allow the spine and nervous system to return to a healthy state. Also misalignment or dysfunction in the joints of the extremities following a sprain/strain type injury may also get adjusted to promote healing and relieve pressure in the joint. Correction of these problems and maintaining good health is the goal of Chiropractic. Also proper nutrition and exercise are components of Chiropractic care and good health.”

So before you hit the trails, get the motorcycle ready or tackle that must-do yard work, come in to Coastal Chiropractic and allow us to set you up for success this summer.
